I was sitting here reflecting and the word nostalgia came to mind. Can you create a future from nostalgia? Let's take a look at the definition of the word. According to the Oxford Dictionary, nostalgia means: "a sentimental longing or wishful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations."
For me, nostalgia is playing my record player and singing some of my favorite songs. I love the arts and theatre. I miss going to players on Broadway. I then turned on my record player and recreated that memory.
With all of the chaos in the world, I think nostalgic moments in life can help you reset and refocus; let's do this exercise. Find a quiet place, and now close your eyes. Think about a nostalgic moment in your life, and answer the following:
What made that moment nostalgic for you?
Why do you think you went to that moment?
Is there something in your current life that correlates to that memory?
Did you complete this exercise? What did you discover about yourself? Can you turn your discovery into an action or goal for 2024? If yes, put your plan into action now. If you cannot, what can you do to move forward with the vision of your goal(s)? We have two more months until 2024 time to get started now.
