Recently, I saw this quote: "Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will." I am not sure who said this quote but it had me thinking how many of my dreams were killed by doubt. Who was to blame? Was it me doubting myself or the voices of others placing doubt in my thoughts? How many dreams did I let slip away?
For example, I wanted to open a jazz club. I shared the idea with a family member who told me how stupid it was to think about doing something so risky.
From that point, I had to learn to overcome doubt to pursue my dreams. It would include planning and executing without sharing it with others. I learned to push past my doubts and keep my vision focused on my goals.
Reflecting on my perseverance and resilience in the face of doubt, I know these qualities have helped me pursue my dreams despite uncertainties and challenges on my path.
Have you considered that some might argue that doubt and uncertainty are necessary for personal growth and that by overcoming them too easily, one might miss out on important learning experiences?
What would you say to someone who argues that perseverance and resilience can sometimes lead to stubbornness and an unwillingness to adapt to new information or change course when necessary? I value your feedback and would love to converse with you. Let's chat about it.
