While achieving your success ask yourself this question, are you proud of the person you are becoming?
If the answer is not what is missing?
Does it mean your success was done for someone else and not yourself?
For me, success has to have meaning and make me feel a sense of accomplishment, even if that success was for someone else.

GOOD ONE! Sadly yet proudly, getting my doctorate was more for my Dad than for me, even though reaping the rewards of getting a much higher salary and prestige in my career was a nice bonus. My Dad always had high hopes for me to excel, and when I was considering getting a 3rd Master's degree, he looked at me and said, "Why don't you just get your doctorate, what's the point of getting numerous master's degrees? It would make me so proud if you would think about it." So, I did! And, as usual, he was right. Therefore, in this instance, success in doing for someone else was a gift well deserved, and Dad is worthy of the credit…
