Harry Belafonte was an icon. He was also a singer, actor, and activist, but he popularized calypso music. He is one of the few performers to receive an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony (EROT). He won the Oscar in a non-competitive category. I can recall listening to his music when my Dad played his records. Harry Belafonte died of congestive heart failure on April 25, 2023, at his home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
